Another month gone, and it’s time to announce the second to last winner for Ship Shape 2013. That’s right you i-shapers, August 15th is the final deadline for the Ship Shape Challenge submissions.

I am so excited to share my success story and hope to encourage others to challenge themselves to complete their own goals!!! 3 months ago I decided I was tired of not feeling sexy anymore at 33 yrs old, 5’8” and 200 lbs. I always had the best intentions to start working out and eating healthy, but always had an excuse. I’m too tired, too busy, and I kept putting it off. I honestly used to think that I was in pretty good shape. I used cleaning my house or playing softball one day a week in the summer as my exercise, but of course would drink beer while playing!
I am so happy that I came across the Shape Up Challenge and learned about the meal replacement shakes. At first I didn’t believe that I would be satisfied on them, but I believe the Slendesta is what helped control my cravings and made me feel full longer. I started eating my biggest meal in the morning instead of at night so I would have all day to burn those calories off. For lunch I would have a shake and a piece of fruit or veggies; not only did I stay satisfied until dinner, but I no longer went through that 2pm slump. I would eat large portions of veggies and lean protein for dinner with no eating after 6pm; this gave me at least 8 hrs of fat burning while I slept. It wasn’t always easy; sometimes I would go to bed after I tucked my kids in at 8pm just so I didn’t have the temptation to snack! I believe the extra sleep really helped me feel more energized as well.
I felt the biggest challenge would be finding (and keeping) the motivation to exercise since I was mostly sedentary before the challenge. I purchased weights, bands and an exercise ball, and every week I was emailed a link to the newest set of moves to a workout that I could do right in my living room. I loved that it was broken into 3 ten minute groups for a 30 minute workout. I started by just doing 30 minutes worth and have gradually added moves on and worked my way up to 1 hour a day. Instead of wasting time on the internet, whether it was 5am or 7pm I would work out. It is so important as a busy mom of 2 that I didn’t have to stop at the gym. The best part is the workout program was free, and there was always someone available to answer my questions on the Askfitnesscoach website. There were always pointers to go along with the workouts, like how to incorporate carbs into your daily diet. I used to have no core strength and now I can bust out 25 pike rollups in a couple of minutes!
The hardest part was realizing this isn’t a diet, but a way of life and it’s not about losing the most weight, it’s about being healthy. I stayed positive and didn’t beat myself up if I wanted to have a scoop of ice cream or slice of pizza. With hard work and great support I went from a size 14 to a size 10 and lost 25 lbs in 90 days! I feel very strong and toned. I now have energy to play with my kids and finally feel sexy again! I love trying on clothes now and not going through my entire closet to find something that fits, or hides my imperfections. I have learned that you really can do anything you put your mind too but YOU have to WANT it bad enough!!!!!!!!
