7 Healthy Cocktails That Won’t Hinder Your Weight Loss

Sure, you might lose weight eating nothing but soup and lemon water but the second you go back to eating “normal”, all of that weight is going to pile back on. Plus, your energy levels plummet on restrictive diets leaving you feeling grumpy and unmotivated.

As a certified personal trainer and nutritionist, I’m not a fan of diets. In fact, I don’t even like to use the word “diet”!

What I am a fan of is making small, sustainable changes to your lifestyle that results in weight that stays off. (My ultimate weight loss guidebook, The IdealPlan, is the blueprint on how to achieve weight loss without feeling deprived.)

Part of making sustainable changes is learning how to properly enjoy treats and drinks. After all, it’s important to “treat yo self!”

Alcohol and weight loss is a topic I get asked about quite a bit. Can you lose weight and still have an occasional drink?

Honestly, yes! Like I said before, you should never have to over deprive yourself to lose weight. If you enjoy having a drink now and then, you can definitely work it into a healthy lifestyle.

That being said, alcohol isn’t ideal when you’re trying to lose weight. Alcohol has a high-calorie count and your body has a hard time processing it. This can make weight loss a little harder.

Coconut Lime Mojitos

Coconut Lime Mojitos

1/4 c coconut water
1 Coconut Lime IdealBoost Packet
1 3/4 c sparkling water
3 oz white rum
1 tbsp. lime juice

Mix coconut water and IdealBoost until combined. Add rum and lime juice. Pour into 2 cocktail glasses full of ice. Top with sparkling water, lightly stir, and garnish with mint. Cheers!

Raspberry Citrus Mimosas

Raspberry Citrus Mimosas

1/2 Raspberry Citrus IdealBoost Packet
8 oz water
12 oz Brut champagne
4 oz of Tropicana Light Orange Juice

Mix IdealBoost and water until combined. Pour into 4 champagne flutes and top each glass with 3 ounces of champagne and 1 ounce of orange juice. Cheers!

Peach Mango Moscow Mules

8 oz water
4 oz vodka
4 oz diet ginger beer
1 oz lime juice

Mix IdealBoost and water until combined. Fill 2 glasses with ice and add IdealBoost mixture. Top each glass with 2 ounces vodka, 2 ounces ginger beer, and ½ ounce lime juice. Lightly stir, garnish with lime, and enjoy!

4 oz water
6 large fresh basil leaves
3 oz white rum
1 oz fresh lime juice
4 oz sparkling water

Mix Black Cherry IdealBoost and water until combined. Place basil leaves in 2 cocktail glasses, muddle, and fill with ice. Add 1.5 ounces of rum, ½ ounce lime juice, and 2 oz of sparkling water to each glass. Lightly stir, garnish with a cherry, and enjoy!

Frozen Watermelon Coconut Margaritas

Frozen Watermelon Coconut Margaritas

2 c frozen seedless watermelon, cubed
3 oz Blanco Tequila
1 Coconut Lime IdealBoost Packet
1 oz fresh lime juice
2 c ice
Margarita salt (optional)

Add all ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth. Pour equally into 2 glasses, garnish with lime, and enjoy!

Vodka Iced Tea Lemonade

16 oz water
1 Iced Tea IdealBoost Packet
¼ c lemon juice
3 oz Vodka

Mix IdealBoost and water until powder has fully dissolved. Fill 2 glasses with ice and add IdealBoost mixture. Top each glass with 2 tbsp lemon juice and 1 ½ ounces of Vodka. Lightly stir, garnish with fresh lemon slices, and enjoy!

Pina Colada

2 c frozen pineapple
3 oz rum
1 Pineapple Passion IdealBoost Packet, mixed with 8 oz water
1/2 c unsweetened coconut milk

Blend all ingredients until smooth. Pour equal amounts into 2 glasses. If desired, garnish with fresh pineapple. Enjoy!
