Eating Less Frequently Isn’t the Same As Eating Less

clockIn my private, hypnotherapy practice I’ve begun noticing a trend with a lot of my overweight patients, and it’s one that I feel needs to be addressed. One of the first things I find out during the evaluation process is that clients have a number of unhealthy eating/sleeping patterns. Around 3 out of every 4 of my clients tell me that they only eat once or twice per day. They think that by cutting down the number of times they eat each day, they will begin to lose weight more quickly, when actually the opposite is true. When you are eating less frequently, your body adjusts to hold onto any excess rather than metabolizing everything you eat. If you want to lose weight quickly, you should actually think about doing the opposite. My advice to these individuals is to bump up eating to 5 times a day.

Now you’re probably giving me the same look that my clients give, but the truth of the matter is, eating smaller, nutritious meals throughout the day provides more energy and gets your body into a cycle of metabolizing everything you eat. On clients I’ve had who have successfully changed to this type of eating habit, the weight actually begins to fall away more quickly, and with less effort.

In our hypnosis CD series, disc two focuses heavily on creating healthy eating habits. These include:

  1. Eating more slowly
  2. Eating 5 times a day (small nutritious meals)
  3. Becoming okay with leaving food on your plate. (It’s not your fault that portion sizes are becoming ridiculous.)

In America specifically, we’ve created a culture of stress, overeating, and poor sleep that has created a huge increase in our obese population. Do you want freedom from that guilt, anxiety, misinformation, low self-esteem, and negative attitude? You can do it, and all I need is 15 minutes a day.
