6 Ways to Feel Strong and Powerful


As a woman, it’s easy to feel self conscious and unsure. There are lots of things in life that throw me off balance–whether it’s a bad hair day, my kids are being crazy, or I’m just feeling a little blue. I know lots of my clients feel this way, too!

Women’s Week here at IdealShape is all about #ShapeTogether. To me, that means we can help lift and support each other–especially when one of us is feeling down.

We all need a good way to get us out of our funk and help us feel strong, powerful, and confident. I came up with a 6 different ways you can snap out of your funk and start feeling powerful! Try them out, see if it works for yourself! Maybe even share this list with a friend and start feeling strong & powerful together!

6 Ways to Feel Strong & Powerful

1. Working out

I know, I know! Working out isn’t everyone’s favorite thing. It can be hard if you’re just getting into it, but I promise that working out is worth it.

Scientifically, your body loves to move. Your body actually releases dopamine when you work out, which is a hormone that helps you feel happier! I love the feeling I get after a really good sweat session, and I have zero doubt that it will help you.

Working out also helps physically strengthen your body. Feeling comfortable in your own body and understanding how strong you really are can help you feel empowered! Our bodies are seriously amazing, and I think we fail to see that a lot of the time!

2. Taking care of yourself

Taking care of yourself can include SO many things. You won’t feel very powerful if you’re feeling tired or not put together.

Make sure you’re getting to bed at a good hour, and giving yourself enough time in the morning to look your best! I always feel stronger when I spent time in the morning meditating, or even just doing my hair.

3. Service

How does serving someone else make you feel better? I don’t know how, but something about service is just so awesome! I love the feeling of strength I get when I know I have made someone else’s day easier.

Get out and serve a bit! Giving back to the community helps support other people. Even if it’s as simple as taking the time to say hi to your neighbors, you will make the world a little bit better by serving.

4. Stick to a Plan

When it comes to meeting our goals, consistency is key. Make sure you set up a routine or guidelines to help you stay on track. Having consistent plans will give you a sense of order and security in your life.

As you stick to your plans, you’ll be able to achieve your goals, and we all know the confidence boost that can be! Knowing that you are capable of taking charge and making positive changes in your life will help you have a better outlook!

5. Clean Up

Yes, you read that right! Cleaning can actually make an impact on how you’re feeling. Staring at the same pile of dirty laundry on your floor and a sink full of dishes can lead you to feeling even more stressed. Because, let’s be honest, we all know that the longer we wait, the more there will be to do!

By staying on top of your cleaning, you can create a healthy and happy atmosphere for yourself. No one can relax when they are literally sitting in the middle of a giant to-do list! I like to designate specific chores for each day of the week. That way, I know exactly what I need to do, and I never have to do it all at once.

6. Dance It Out

Set aside your pride, put on your favorite sweats, and start blaring your go-to playlist! I’m a firm believer that when all else has fails, an upbeat playlist of your favorite songs can save the day. Sometimes a solo-dance party is just what you need to boost your mood!

Rhythmic movements actually cause your body to release serotonin and dopamine, hormones that are linked to happiness. That’s right, you can shake and shimmy your way to a “dancer’s high”!
