Getting Started on the IdealShape Up Challenge

suc-logo-newWe designed this challenge with one thing in mind:  to help the average individual work toward and achieve their fitness goals.

You don’t need to be an elite athlete or train for hours a day to be able to join us in this challenge. However, you will have to dig deep, push yourself and stay focused. Don’t worry, we know that if you work hard and stick with it you will be extremely satisfied with your results. We have seen the results that the IdealShape Up Challenge can bring.

Living healthy should be a way of life, not just a cycle you go through until you reach your goal. So many people work hard to lose weight only to gain it all back and some even end up in worse shape than when they started. The IdealShape Up Challenge is designed to help you build healthy habits that you can take with you not just for these three months, but for the rest of your life. So to help you get started, we have laid out a list of things you can expect during the IdealShape Up Challenge.

Progressive Workouts

Each day you will be given workouts that include active stretching, strength training, cardiovascular training, and core strengthening. The daily workouts will only take up to thirty minutes of your time, making them easy to fit into your busy schedule.

The unique aspect of our workout program is that each week of the challenge is designed to build upon the next. The first week will include basic movements that will prepare you for the next week’s movements and so forth. Because of this progressive design, it is very important that you do not skip workouts. Do your best to complete each daily workout so that you will be prepared for the movements contained in the following week.

Because of the progressive nature of the IdealShape Up Challenge workout program, each week will get a little harder. Do not let this discourage you. Complete the workouts every day and you will be prepared for the following week. If you find that you are not prepared, you can always restart the previous week in order to work back up.

Weekly Nutritional Goals

Each week of the challenge will have a specific nutritional goal for you to work on. As the weeks go by, these goals will also build upon one another allowing you to transform your nutritional habits. The important thing to remember is that once the week is over, you should continue developing that goal even though you will be working on the next week’s goal. Don’t let these goals overwhelm you. Focus on developing the goal for each week so that when the next week comes it is already second nature. With practice and perseverance you will be on your way to a healthier diet.

Staying Focused

In order to stay focused during these next twelve weeks, there are a few things that we would recommend. First, we would love for you to stay active in our IdealShape Up Challenge Facebook community. We will be posting the daily challenges as well as articles, tips and other things to keep you motivated. You will also have an opportunity to connect with others taking the challenge.

Next, we recommend that you keep a journal of your workouts and nutritional progress. After each workout write down how you did, how you felt, what weight you used, if you got all the reps done, etc. For your nutritional progress keep track of the foods you consumed and what you are doing to develop healthy eating habits according to the goal for that week. Keeping a journal will hold you accountable and will allow you to track your progress.

What You Will Need

In order to successfully complete the IdealShape Up Challenge you will need a few tools. Like I said, we highly recommend that you keep a fitness journal to help you along the way. You will also need some basic exercise equipment, including an exercise ball, dumbbells, and a foam roller. You will need this equipment for a number of the exercises included in the IdealShape Up Challenge.
