Here are the facts:

  1. 78 million adults are obese in America
  2. By 2030, 115 million adults will be obese

Weight Gain during Holidays

Here are the facts:

  1. A study on holiday weight gain showed that people gained weight within the 10 days after Christmas Day
  2. Weight also increased after Thanksgiving
  3. Another study revealed that holiday weight gain could be contributing to overall weight gain that builds over the years.
    Studies showed that on average participants gained during the holidays but then did not lose the extra weight during the spring or summer, thus increasing their weight over time.

Let’s face it, making good, healthy eating decisions during the holiday season can be SO difficult with all the holiday goodies and treats starting to pop up. Does that need you need to write off having another seasonal treat for good?

No way! Living a healthy, happy lifestyle is all about balance. It’s about planning ahead and making more smart decisions than bad! Start small.

For example, if you know you’re going to be eating desserts or some holiday treats at a get-together during the day, plan ahead and have a healthy breakfast and lunch to help you stay on track! While you’re at the get-together (or treating yourself to a night on the town), try and get in a healthy serving of veggies, meat, and salad, first!

See? It’s all about balance! 🙂

  1. Studies show that less than 5% of adults are getting 30 minutes of exercise per day!
  2. One in three adults get enough each week
  3. 80% of adults don’t meet the requirements for both strength training and aerobic activities

Workout out and exercising is so much more than just burning calories and helping with weight loss. It’s about finding physical activities you love, and enjoying them!

It’s about getting active to help build your energy, so you have the strength to be able to do the things you love most, without feeling hindered. Without feeling like you are missing out on life. 

Whether it’s walking, running, hiking, lifting, or whatever you choose, pick an activity this week and go do it!
