Did you know that about 60% of your body is made up of water? How crazy is that! We have to keep our bodies hydrated just to function properly, but have you ever wondered how much water to drink to lose weight?
A lot of people aren’t drinking enough water and are living in a state of dehydration. Dehydration can cause you to feel tired and frustrated, and you’ll end up overeating if you aren’t drinking enough water. We want to keep you happy and hydrated, so let’s talk about water!
I’m going to run through the ins and outs of water so that we’re all on the same page. Then I’ll go over how much water to drink to lose weight!
What Are the Benefits of Water?
There are so many benefits to drinking a good amount of water. Drinking water helps
- flush out toxins in your body,
- fight illness,
- boost your immune system,
- prevent headaches,
- maintain regularity,
- improve your skin, and
- increase your energy.
Because your body is made up of mostly water, you need to be consistently replenishing your water. Not drinking enough water can leave you dehydrated, which can affect your mood, energy levels, and hunger. If you want to be in a good mood, chug a bottle of water.
How Much Water to Drink to Lose Weight
Lots of people have different opinions on how much water you should be drinking in a day. Some recommend 8 cups of water, others say a gallon, and some say half your weight in ounces of water.
I like to suggest half your weight in ounces of water, but ultimately it is up to your body! You can slowly build up to a proper amount of water, so maybe try adding 8 ounces more than you would normally drink until that feels comfortable. Keep adding 8 ounces until you’ve gotten to half your weight in ounces. Do not go over 1 ½ gallons of water.
If you feel like you are drinking way too much water, cut it back a little bit until you find a happy place for you. Always consult your doctor if you have questions about your body.
