Pre-Workout Snack Recipes

The difference between totally crushing a workout and giving up could be the fuel you are putting into your body. What kind of food are you eating before you workout?

As a personal trainer, I get questions all the time about what kind of foods you should eat before you workout. I’ve got two go-to recipes for a pre-workout snack right here, and both will help you crush your workouts! Give them a try and let me know what you think!

Berry Yogurt Oatmeal Parfait

Ingredients

1/3 c oatmeal, cooked & cooled

½ c nonfat plain Greek yogurt

½ scoop Strawberry IdealShake

1/2 c mixed berries

Directions

  1. Stir together the Greek yogurt and protein powder until smooth and combined.
  2. To assemble the parfait, layer in a glass the cooked oatmeal first, then the yogurt mixture, and finish with mixed berries! Enjoy!

Serves 1. Serving size: entire recipe.

Calories per serving: 273 / Protein 22g / Carbs 39g / Fat 4g

Chocolate Strawberry Rice Cake

 

Ingredients

1/4 c nonfat, plain Greek yogurt

1/2 scoop Strawberry IdealShake

1 chocolate rice cake (Quaker)

1 strawberry, diced

1 tsp. mini chocolate chips

Optional: sugar-free chocolate syrup

Directions

  1. Stir together the Greek yogurt and protein powder until smooth.
  2. Lay out your rice cake on a plate and drop spoonfuls of the yogurt mixture all over the rice cake.
  3. Top with diced strawberries and chocolate chips. Enjoy!!

Serves 1. Serving size: entire recipe.
